Medison's CEO answers questions (Jnytt)
THE SWEDISH CONSUMER AGENCY: MEDISON IS BREAKING THE LAW
When the storm started around Medison a couple of weeks ago many
companies reacted on that the computer manufacturer linked to them
from their web page.
The companies that against their will were featured in links on
Medison's web site had never been in contact Medison before. When
Jnytt spoke to Ivancic one week ago he explained that it was a mistake
that the links were still present on the web page and that there was
no time to update it before the discussions started in the media.
Despite Ivancic admission that the links were a mistake they were not
removed immediately. Instead the links remained and were removed one
by one, when each individual company, that Medison linked to, made
themselves heard. Ivancic blames lack of time.
- Because we didn't manage, he says and explains that he is personally
responsible for the web site and doesn't have time to manage
everything as well as he should.
- Right now I am managing the web site, we no longer have the person
that managed the web page before, he says. Ivancic don't want to
confirm that the person who managed the web page before has been fired
but he suggests it.
- There were several errors and such, he establishes. But I do not
want to blame someone else, in the end I am responsible, he continues.
THE KEYBOARDS
Many questions have also been asked about how the keyboards of
Medisons computers will look. If the computers are delivered all over
the world, how can then Medison ensure that each customer gets the
type of keyboard that they want? Ivancic have earlier stated that the
keyboard type is determined from the delivery address, that a Swedish
customer automatically will receive a european keyboard.
Medisonscam.info is critical to how Medison is solving the keyboard
problem in countries like Canada, where both English and French
keyboards are used.
When Jnytt asks Ivancic how he has intended to solve the keyboard
issue he sticks to his earlier explanation. According to him the
computer will be delivered with the keyboard that is most common in
the region the computer is delivered to. If a customer wants a
different keyboard Ivancic says the customer can easily add this to
the order by sending an e-mail to Medison. The type of keyboard on the
computers, that are assembled in Brazil by Medison, will according to
Ivancic be customizable without any problems. He claims that Medison
already have received e-mails from customers that have asked questions
about which keyboard the computer will have.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
One week ago it was revealed that the policies that Medison
published on their web page was copied verbatim from apple.com. When
this was published in media Medison removed the policies from
the web page and has since then not had anything like it. Jnytt called
Cecilia Hurtig, a lawyer at Swedish Consumer Agency.
- My judgement is that they are breaking the law of marketing, Hurtig
establishes. If one does not get all the information one is entitled
to at the time of purchase one is entitled to cancel the purchase, she
continues.
Jnytt confronted Ivancic with that the company is breaking the
[Swedish] law when they no longer have any terms and conditions. Ivancic
explains that he, together with a lawyer, is working on establising a
new policy. He does not want to reveal the lawyer's name,
because the lawyer would then risk being harassed by media. He also
says he is unable to say when the new policy will be published. On the
other hand Ivancic says all customers that regret their purchase
because the company has no privacy policy, gets their money back.
- They have this freedom and the opportunity to get a refund from
2CO, he says and refers to the bank organisation in the USA that are
handling the money.
- It is best for them to send a mail to 2checkout, he continues.
Ivancic explains that customers, if they want, also can contact
Medison but that it probably is faster if the customers contact the
banking organisation directly. This also means hat all persons that so
far have ordered a computer from Medison may cancel their purchase and
get a refund.
NUMBER OF SOLD COMPUTERS
In the interview Jnytt held with Ivancic this Monday he meant that
Medison had already sold more than 300,000 computers and 10,000 of
these to private persons. This was also a misunderstanding means Ivancic.
- We have sold a few thousand to private persons, says Ivancic. He
sticks to that the company has more than 300,000 orders, but that
these are large orders without any decisions taken regarding them.
Also most of these 300,000 orders are, according to Ivancic,
distributed across a three year period. He means that it is companies
that are interested in computers from Medison and that these orders
are planned further on in the future.
ASSEMBLY AND DELIVERY
According to Medisons plans the computers that have been ordered will
be sent to the customers on August 15. Exactly from where the
computers will be sent, he says he doesn't know.
- We have a vendor that has promised to send the computers that we
are ordering to our customers. That vendor has also said that it can
send parts for assembly in Brazil, explains Ivancic. Computers are
being assembled in Brazil right now, that I can say. They are being
assemblied by one of our partners, he continues.
According to Ivancic the computers are being assemblied by Mastiff
Technology, that according to Ivancics information is in the state of
Sao Paulo. Jnytt has not been able to confirm if such a company exists
or not. Ivancic is also unable to, with only a week until delivery,
answer if the computers will be delivered from Brazil or from Asia. He
explains that the thought is that the computers for the american
market will be delivered from Brazil and the others delivered from
Asia, exactly how this will be arranged he can't answer to. He says he
is on his way both to Brazil and to Asia in the near future to find
out how everything will be arranged.
HOLD YOUR ORDER
Every day new information is revealed about Medison and its CEO, Valdi
Ivancic. The discussion if they are a fraud or not continues on the
INternet . Ivancic himself means that the discussion that takes place
on the Internet and in media takes too much of his time right now. He
means that right now he rather focuses all his power to deliver the
computers as soon as possible.
- I am seriosly thinking about making a stop in talking to media, he
sighs. If you think it's a fraud then wait. Order when you see others
have got, that is the best for us and the best for them too, states
Ivancic.
